This Children’s Day, Light of Life Trust had organised a very special celebration for its Anant children at Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA.
They were privy to a tech rehearsal of DEVDAS, a spectacular theatrical show of AGP Productions, and witnessed the mega set design by by the National Award-winning art and cinematic director Omung Kumar, classic and contemporary fusion dance performances choreographed by Shampa Sonthalia, and the lilting melodies and the music score given by Bertwin Ravi Dsouza
Our children are the future of the country and in the same spirit these children under the Anant program of LOLT have honed their artistic, music and theatrical talents over many years of practice and are on the road to making their careers in the fields of Music, Theatre and Dance.
15 Anando children interacted with renowned celebrities like Gaurav Chopra, Sunil Kumar Palwal, Sukhada Khandkekar, Aanchal Chauhan and Bhavna Pani who are performing in Devdas. The exposure received by the rural children, a first for all, enhanced their capabilities and created a learning platform for them on Children’s Day. Light of Life Trust initiated the Anant programme in 2008 to successfully train & mentor more than 300 Anando beneficiaries in three musical components – Indian vocal, tabla & folk dance. Beneficiaries coming from underprivileged communities who never thought of learning music have blossomed in the field of music over the last 8 years.
LOLT is organizing the premier show of DEVDAS, a Fundraiser on 16th November, Friday. All the proceeds from this show will give an additional 1000 children a second chance to Education in the coming academic year instead of dropping out of school.
Villy Doctor, Founder of Light of Life Trust “ wished children a very happy children’s day. She said that today is a very special day dedicated to the young talents of the country. She encouraged children all across the country to always be very joyous and happy. She also motivated children to excel in whatever they are doing to make the country proud.”
LOLT is committed towards uplifting the society by giving school dropouts in rural India access to secondary education and thereby eject families from the cycle of poverty over generations.
The NGO aims at organizing many such events in the near future.
