Money Laundering Case: Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh sent to 14-day judicial custody

Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been sent to 14-day judicial custody. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had produced him in a special PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court on November 6 after his custody ended. Deshmukh is facing charges of converting black money into white. He was arrested late on 1 November. His family members are also under investigation in this matter.

The case related to the recovery of Rs 100 crore

There is an allegation of illegal recovery of Rs 100 crore against Anil Deshmukh. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had registered a case against him on April 21. The ED has alleged that Deshmukh misused his position and extorted Rs 4.70 crore from various bars and restaurants in Mumbai through suspended policeman Sachin Vajhe, accused in the Antilia case.

Deshmukh’s son also has to appear before ED in this case

In the case of illegal recovery, the difficulties of the entire family of Anil Deshmukh are increasing. On Friday, November 5, his son Hrishikesh Deshmukh was called for questioning in the Enforcement Directorate (ED), but he did not turn up. It is being said that he has sought 7 days’ time from the ED. Let us inform you that the ED had arrested Anil Deshmukh on November 1. He was produced in court on November 2. He is in custody till 6 November.

 

Parambir Singh wrote a letter to Uddhav Thackeray

The matter came to light after the investigation of explosives found outside Mukesh Ambani’s house. Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh wrote to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray alleging that Anil Deshmukh asked Sachin Vajhe (main accused in Antilia case) to collect Rs 100 crore every month from bars, restaurants, and other places Were. In the letter, Parambir Singh had written, “Home Minister Deshmukh called Sachin Wajhe to his bungalow several times. Ordered to collect the funds. During this, his personal secretary Mr. Palande was also present there. I took the matter to the Deputy Chief Minister and NCP. Also briefed Chief Sharad Pawar.”
