Election Laws Amendment Bill 2021: In view of other reforms including preventing bogus voting in elections, the government will introduce an important bill in the Lok Sabha today. The ‘Election Laws Amendment Bill 2021’, a bill linking voter ID to Aadhaar cards, is included in the agenda of Monday’s winter session of Parliament. The draft of this bill was approved by the Union Cabinet in its meeting held last Wednesday. In this bill, a provision has been made to link the voter ID with the Aadhaar card to prevent duplication of the name of the same person in the voter list and fake voting.
Let us inform you that on Monday i.e. today, Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju is going to present the Election Act Amendment Bill 2021. Let us tell you that a provision has been made in this bill that the Election Registration Officer can demand an Aadhar card number to prove the identity of the person already enrolled in the voter list. Due to which registration of a person in more than one constituency and registration as a voter in the same constituency from different addresses can be rejected. Which will go a long way in moving towards a fair and one voter one vote.
At the same time, there is also a provision in the Election Act Amendment Bill 2021 that even if a person does not have an Aadhar card, he cannot be stopped from getting his name added to the voter list, nor can he already His name entered can be rejected. Such people can also get themselves registered with the help of other documents.
