Dongyue Group’s plastic-waste-to-products initiative draws attention at Kanak News MSME Summit

Bhubaneswar, September 21, 2026: New-generation manufacturing and sustainable construction technologies took centre stage at the Kanak News MSME Summit 2026, where Dongyue Group was recognised for Excellence in New Product Development & Innovation. Nandiki Roja Ramani, Head – New Products Development, accepted the award on behalf of Dongyue Engineering & Fabricators.
The summit was held at Swosti Premium, Bhubaneswar, with Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C), Industries, Skill Development & Technical Education, Government of Odisha, as Chief Guest. The event included panel discussions by speakers from the wider MSME and business ecosystem.
The recognition comes as Dongyue develops a portfolio of new technologies that links industrial engineering with resource recovery. A major current focus is the conversion of low-value plastic waste into useful products, with potential applications including recycled plastic bricks, blocks and plastic paver blocks.
Plastic waste presents a different manufacturing challenge from conventional industrial by-products because waste streams can contain different polymers, additives, labels, contamination and varying physical properties. Technology intended for low-value plastic conversion therefore needs to address feedstock preparation, processing consistency and product quality alongside the final product design.
Dongyue’s approach is to look at this challenge through an engineering and manufacturing lens. Instead of viewing difficult plastic waste only as a waste-management problem, the company is exploring whether appropriate fractions can be converted into useful construction products. The objective is to create a practical link between waste collection and a manufactured product with a defined application.
Nandiki Roja Ramani said while receiving the award that Dongyue’s journey has been about combining technology with practical and sustainable solutions. She emphasised a circular approach in which waste can become a raw material and resource. Her message reflects the company’s broader interest in developing products that respond to environmental challenges through industrial innovation.
Dr. Nandiki Gangadhar Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Dongyue Group, joined the programme remotely from Greater Noida during Bauma India 2026. He said the company was seeing increasing demand and enquiries around the new technology for converting single-use plastics and low-end plastics into bricks and blocks.
According to Dr. Reddy, expectations are emerging particularly from Tier-2 and Tier-3 city markets. These urban centres are important to the next stage of India’s construction and infrastructure growth, while local authorities and communities also face the practical challenge of managing increasing plastic use. Technologies that create a viable reuse pathway may therefore become relevant to local circular-economy initiatives, provided they meet required technical and regulatory conditions.
For Dongyue Group, the MSME Summit recognition also reinforces the role of new-product development as a bridge between engineering technology and market needs. The company’s work spans machinery, manufacturing systems and waste-utilisation concepts, with the plastic initiative adding another dimension to this portfolio.
The award presented to Nandiki Roja Ramani provides a public recognition of the innovation effort behind this development programme. It also places Odisha’s MSME ecosystem within a larger conversation about how manufacturing companies can participate in sustainable product development.
