Who says there are no employment opportunities in the village? This notion has been completely dispelled by some youth of the new generation. Day by day we get to read various stories where people leave the luxurious urban life and move to the village and start their own business by making good use of the natural resources. Another name has been added to these people and that is Shweta Tomar. Shweta belongs to the same Uttarakhand, where every month thousands of people migrate towards the city in search of employment.
If you talk about leaving a brilliant career in fashion designing and starting goat farming in the village, no one will believe it. But Shweta was born in Ranipokhari, a village in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Shweta’s father always had a dream that he should have some business in the village so that the youth could get employment opportunities. Although her father failed to set up the business, the daughter always had the urge to fulfill her father’s dream.
Shweta was very much interested in fashion designing. After completing her graduation in science and then doing a fashion designing course from NIFT, she worked in the fashion industry for a few years in Noida and Delhi. While doing the designing work, she was also selected for Miss Chandigarh. But after marriage, she moved to Bangalore and started running a boutique there with the help of her husband. Due to this, she would get a good income every month. But she always wanted to go to the village to fulfill her father’s wish. Suddenly one day Shweta got the idea of starting a farm in the village and shared it with her husband.
After reaching the village, she started goat rearing in Ranipokhari using all her deposits. She also took a loan from the bank to start the business on a large scale. She founded a company called ‘Prem Agro’ and made the farm equipped with modern facilities using technology. The platform for goat rearing on the farm and the high-tech CCTV cameras installed there are fully monitored.
Today Shweta’s farm has more than 400 goats. She has also associated the business of dairy with it. Not only this, but now she has also taken steps in the direction of poultry and cow rearing. At present, she is earning an annual income of 3 to 4 lakhs.
Today Shweta is a successful farmer but reaching this stage was not easy for her. At first, it was very challenging for her to bid goodbye to her illustrious career in fashion designing. And when she started the farm in the village, many people told him about the closure of this business. But despite all this, she never lost her courage and kept on doing her work.
Shweta also organizes training programs to stop the migration of youth from the village. In this program, any person can go and get information about other things ranging from goat rearing to dairy and poultry farming. Apart from this, Shweta is also working to expand her business to other cities with the aim of providing more employment opportunities.
