Cm Prem Singh Tamang Keen On Social Work Promises To Continue Serving The People

New Delhi, June 27: The Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang attended a valedictory program on “Spiritual Youth Summer Camp” organized by “Manav Utthan Sewa Samiti Sikkim” at Rangpo Ground on Sunday.

Manav Utthan Sewa Samiti is a Socio- Spiritual & Charitable Organisation working at a global level with an objective to awaken the consciousness of mankind.

The event had a pledge-taking ceremony as well, on the occasion of “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.”, with the theme “Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crises.”

The Chief Minister was also felicitated by the Samiti for his commendable governance and was presented a Momento by Manav Utthan Sewa Samiti, Sikkim Youth Wing.

The Chief Minister in his address spoke about International Drug Day requesting all the citizens to take a pledge to fight against substance abuse and keep our society free from drugs. He emphasized youth and said that the youth are the energy, power, and strength of the nation. If youth are in the right direction then our nation too shall flourish along with the preservation of our culture and tradition.

Further, he said that if the public wants then, after 10 years of ruling as a Chief Minister, he shall retire happily from politics and move towards social work. He has always served the citizens and shall be doing that forever.

He thanked Manav Utthan Sewa Samithi and discussed the upcoming projects of the meditation center of Nandugoan, and said that the project will be completed by 2023.

He also highlighted the functioning of Sikkim Garib Kalyan Prakosta, Medical support, and financial aid to patients belonging to lower-income levels. Ambulance services to each district have also been provided, and that has been of great help during the Covid lockdown. 9 caretakers have also been trained and employed to take care of senior citizens who have been abandoned by their families.

Likewise, he also declared that Kafectar land in South Sikkim has been proposed for the construction of a Cancer Hospital with the latest technology and shall be one of the best of its kind. He also spoke briefly on the “Agneepath Scheme.

The program also had the presence of speakers, State Legislative Assembly, Ministers, MLAs, other dignitaries, government officials, Samiti Members, and the public.
