Cm Tamang Distributes Benefits To Young Entrepreneurs In A Grand Programme For Sikkim’s Startups

New Delhi, July 18: As a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebration, a State level Entrepreneurs Meet was held at Manan Kendra, Gangtok on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Minister of Commerce & Industries Department, B.S. Panth. The program was organized by the Commerce & Industries Department, Government of Sikkim.

On the occasion, subsidy cheques and other benefits were distributed to beneficiaries under the Skilled Youth Startup Scheme (SYSS) of the Government of Sikkim, Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) of the Ministry of MSME, and Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME) of Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang extended his best wishes to the young entrepreneurs and beneficiaries and urged them to take full advantage of the State and Central Schemes aimed at boosting the potential entrepreneurial skills of the youth of Sikkim.
P.S Tamang informed that an MoU between the Commerce & Industries Department and
Sikkim Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (SEED) Cell. SEED Cell has been assigned as the consultant for providing committed assistance to the rural beneficiaries to ensure easy access to credits from banks and avail interest subsidies on loans under the various schemes.

He further stressed the need to increase the ease of doing business in the State and assured that the State government would take all steps necessary to make reforms for effective ease of doing business to stimulate entrepreneurial functioning.

CM Tamang assured that the State government would extend its full support in encouraging and accelerating the growth of Startups in Sikkim and urged all the entrepreneurs and SHGs to be proactive in their ventures while encouraging youth entrepreneurship.

During the event, various products of Temi Tea and SIMFED were launched, which was followed by the launch of the online Portal for Provisional Registration and the release of Sikkim M.S.M.E Policy 2021.

The program was attended by the Deputy Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Cabinet Ministers, various senior officers, along with lead bank representatives, Zilla and Gram Panchayat members and a host of young entrepreneurs and members of various Self Help Groups.
