D. Litt Controversy: ‘Controversies Read Constitution’, Governor Reminds of Constitutional Principles

Kochi: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s response to the Governor’s recommendation to grant the President an honorary D-Litt Controversy was a reminder of the constitutional obligation to respect the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He said in Kochi that everyone should abide by it.

‘Controversies should read the constitution. Everyone must understand the law and the constitution and respond. I do not respond to statements made by some out of ignorance ‘. He said the D-Lit controversy was no longer responding and that the governor’s office should not be the subject of discussion.

Earlier, it was alleged that the government-governor war was sparked by the rejection of the President’s recommendation to delete politically involved higher education. The controversy erupted when Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala said that the governor had indicated that the state government’s intervention in rejecting the President’s recommendation to give an honorary D-lit was a matter of national pride.

With this, the government also made cuts. However, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that if there were any problems in giving de-lit to the President, it was up to the governor to disclose it and that the current campaign was a smokescreen campaign. Kodiyeri explained that the issue has not come before the party or the government.

But at the same time, Opposition leader VD Satheesan’s response was to attack the governor for not accepting Chennithala’s accusation against the government over the controversy over the denial of D.Litt to the President. VD Satheesan alleged that if the Governor had recommended the deletion to the President, it was wrong and that the issue was being raised now to divert attention from the real issues. But the BJP has criticized the state government for insulting the Dalit president.
