Thiruvananthapuram: The statement of Praveen, accused of the incident of finding a dead body of a woman in a hotel room in Thampanur (Gayatri Murder), has been issued.
Praveen said that to incite the murder was the release of photographs of the two together on social media, which also included a fight at a city church.
But the police are probing whether it was the motive behind the murder.
The accused will be taken into custody and interrogated. She felt that her relationship with Praveen Gayatri, who is currently married, was to be kept secret. Praveen had promised to marry Gayatri after ending his present marriage but was not ready for it.
This angered Gayatri and tied the knot in February 2021 at a church in Thiruvananthapuram. Both these photos were kept secret. The company transferred the jewelry employee to Tamil Nadu after Praveen’s wife, who knew about Praveen’s secret affair, complained. Gayatri insisted that she was with Praveen who was on his way to Tamil Nadu.
However, he told the police that he had booked a room in Thampanur to find out about Gayatri, which denied the allegations. But Gayatri got into an argument with Praveen and after realizing that he was cheating on her, she immediately shared the secret wedding pictures on social media. Praveen told the police that outraged by this, he killed Gayatri.
Praveen Gayatri was strangled to death with a shawl. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accused disconnected Gayatri’s phone. According to the police, Praveen called the hotel reception from the same phone and told them about the murder.
Gayatri and Praveen were employees of a jewelry shop in the city. Praveen is a driver in a jewelry shop. Here both of them fell in love. Married, Praveen has two children.
The problem arose when Praveen came to know about his relationship with Gayatri at home. Along with this, Gayatri had left the job eight months ago. It is learned that Gayatri was removed from the jewelry shop on the complaint of Praveen’s wife.
Praveen was also shifted to a showroom in Tamil Nadu. The two had met before Praveen went to Tamil Nadu. The problem arose when he was asked to take them to Tamil Nadu as well.
Just before the shock of the receptionist’s murder at the lodge, another murder took place in the capital, Pattappakal. Gayatri is a resident of Kattaka. Praveen is a resident of Kollam.
Gayatri and Praveen had booked a room in a hotel on Saturday. Praveen arrived at 10 am and booked a room. According to the police, based on the information received from the employees, Gayatri reached around 12 noon.
In the evening Praveen left the room. Locked in the room and fled. After that, the police opened the room on the basis of calling the hotel.
At 12.30 pm, a call came in the hotel reception that a woman had died in room 107. The room was locked from outside when the staff arrived. The hotel staff immediately informed the police. When the police arrived and opened the room, Gayatri found foam from her mouth.
