Entrepreneur’s Success Story: Hironmoy Gogoi running an online Dhaba, started in 10 rupees and became a famous company

At the tender age of twenty-two, while most young people are busy with their college life or first job, some people continue to adorn their lives with the ornaments of success. While the majority of adults depend on others for jobs, some build empires of their own, as well as many job opportunities for others. Such is the story of Hiranmay Gogoi.

‘Hirnamaya’ means golden, Gogoi is true to his name as a compassionate and compassionate person who is deeply attached to nature. When he was fifteen years old, his brother died in a road accident. Not only this but then his mother also died in the same year in 2012. His mother was battling the disease for 13 years. This tragic incident hardened Gogoi and he went into depression. His father struggled with loneliness and lost and married a divorcee. Hiranmay tried hard to give her the place of his mother, but soon he realized that no one else can take the place of his mother. When he was in depression, he used to talk to himself in solitude. During one such self-dialogue, he asked himself whether it was wise to spend one’s life crying and regretting what has passed and it is not possible to do anything about it! He decided that he would not live his life this way. He took a promise to himself that he would pull himself out of this suffering and help others with his experience in life.

It was from here that the idea of a “food-tech” emerged in his mind. It is an online business connected with rural technology. This business is located in Assam and its branches are working everywhere. Hiranmay believes that this business will create jobs for the farmers.

Hiranmay made his idea a reality in the true sense. He developed a mobile app “Gaon Ka Khana” in which people can easily get what they want. There are seven divisions of this app. Under this there are different types of mines and methods of choice in different divisions;

The traditional style of “Gaon ka Khana”: In this, food is served to the customers of Assam according to the tradition there.

“Gaon Ka Khana” Party Style: In this, people can order western dishes for the party.

“Gaon Ka Khana” Natural Style: In this, customers can order organically grown vegetables. In this business, farmers are directly contacted and vegetables and fruits are delivered to the homes of the customers.
“Gaon ka Khana” “Mandita”: It is based on the name of his mother. There are plans to include other types of food items as well.

“Gaon Ka Khana” Trivial Style: It focuses on making the stay convenient for the local tourists of Assam.

“Gaon ka Khana” Accommodation Style: In this, to provide facility for booking in hotels of Assam.

“Gaon Ka Khana” Relationship Mode: In this, couples get their hotel booking done.

Apart from the mobile menu “Gaon Ka Khana” has also started ‘Krishi Vikas Yojana’. In this, farmers have to get registered in “Gaon ka Khana” and they are given a card. When customers place orders, farmers have to deliver vegetables and fruits prepared from organic farming to the customer’s doorstep. The cost of this card is only Re 1 per month. The name of this effort is FFL (Fresh From Land). Farmers who are unable to go from village to city, again and again, deliver vegetables to the office of “Gaon ka Khana”.

These efforts started by Hiranmay are also a fight for the basic rights of poor farmers and workers. Hiranmay’s goal is to provide jobs to 3000 people in the coming time.

Hiranmay started his business in June 2016 with only Rs.10. They had only one gas cylinder and one stove bus. Going to the city for delivery from his village Sivasagar was the most difficult but he never let those hurdles affect his business. Whatever work he did, he would turn it into gold.

Hiranmoy Gogoi has been awarded the National Award in “Sixth Small and Emerging Business – 2017”. We see that age does not matter for success, only hard work, and strong will. We can all take inspiration from the success story of Hiranmayi at the age of 22 that if we do something with honesty and zeal, we will surely emerge as the winner.
