Patna: The special court of NIA has given its verdict today on the bomb blasts in the Gandhi Maidan of Bihar’s capital Patna in the year 2013. The court has sentenced 4 convicts of the blasts to death while two have been sentenced to life imprisonment and two convicts have been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. Apart from this, one convict has got seven years.
9 people convicted in the blasts
In the year 2013, 79 people were injured in these blasts at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. On Wednesday, the court had convicted 9 accused in this case, one accused was acquitted due to lack of evidence. Special Public Prosecutor Lalan Prasad Singh told that Special Judge of NIA Court Gurvinder Malhotra had arrested Imtiaz Ansari, Mujibullah, Haider Ali, Firoz Aslam, Noman Ansari, Iftikhar, Ahmed Hussain in the 2013 Gandhi Maidan serial blasts case. , Umer Siddiqui and Azharuddin were convicted while Fakhruddin was declared acquitted for not getting evidence.

NIA’s lawyer Lalan Prasad Sinha said that the court has given the verdict on the basis of the investigation of the electronic forensic laboratory apart from the statement of the witness. This case was very serious and the incident was carried out under a conspiracy to cause maximum damage. Considering the seriousness of the case, the court has given its decision. The lawyer told that the conspiracy for the blasts was hatched in Raipur. Goods were collected in Ranchi and the incident was carried out in Patna.
Chargesheet against 11 accused
He told that in this case, the NIA had filed a charge sheet against 11 accused, out of which one of the accused was transferred to the juvenile court due to his age. According to him, the trial was held in the NIA court against the remaining ten accused. After being convicted, the court had fixed November 1 for the decision on the sentence.
Narendra Modi, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat and prime ministerial candidate, was the keynote speaker of BJP’s Hunkar rally held on 27 October 2013 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Then about 20 minutes before the party leaders including Narendra Modi reached the stage, there were serial blasts on the ground in which 6 people were killed and about 80 people were injured.
