New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Pope Francis in Vatican City on 30 October during his 5-day visit to Italy. Modi had left for Italy on the late night of 28 October to attend the 16th G-20 Summit. Modi has visited Italy on a special invitation from Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. There was a very warm meeting between PM Modi and Pope Francis.

The meeting was scheduled for 20 minutes, but it lasted for about an hour. Modi discussed many of our issues with the Pope like fighting climate change and eradicating poverty. The Prime Minister has invited the Pope to visit India. Upon his arrival at the Vatican, Modi was received by Monsignor Leonardo Sapienza, the state representative of the Papal family.
