Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang chaired the State Level advocacy program on Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY) at Samman Bhawan, on Wednesday.
Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana was launched on 14th April 2018 by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, with the aim to improve the income-generating means of the tribal population through the value addition of Minor Forest Produce (MFP).
On the occasion, the Chief Minister gave away Cheques to 27 VanDhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) which include 5 VDVK from Soreng District, and 4 VDVK from Gyalzing, 4 VDVK from Gangtok, 8 VDVK from Namchi and 6 VDVK from Mangan.
He also presented the Grant in Aid to various religious institutions for construction, up-gradation, and repair work.
The Chief Minister in his address urged the department officers to be compassionate and proactive towards the approaches of the people and lend a helping hand which can result in the overall development of an individual, society, and the state.
Further, the Chief Minister also directed to organize the state-level SHGs meeting where they can exchange and discuss ideas for more creative activities. He has assured every help from the state government advocating the concept of ‘Vocal for Local’.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also gave away the Cheque reward from Mankind Pharma Pvt. Ltd to the family members of the deceased police personnel who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.
