New Delhi: Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) registration of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Jamia Millia Islamia, and Nehru Memorial Museum and Library stands canceled. These prestigious establishments are among 6,000 institutions or organizations whose FCRA registration expired on Saturday.
Union Home Ministry officials said that these institutions either did not apply for renewal of their FCRA licenses or their applications were rejected by the Union Home Ministry.

FCRA registration of Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra also ended
According to the official website related to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, organizations and institutions whose registration under FCRA has expired or has expired include Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts, Indian Institute of Public Administration, Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Foundation, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi College of Engineering and Oxfam India.
FCRA registration is required to receive foreign donations
Officials of the Union Home Ministry, which regulates the activities of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and its affiliates registered under the FCRA, said that the registration under the Act is deemed to have ended on Saturday (January 1). FCRA registration is mandatory for any organization and NGO to receive foreign donations.
As of Friday, there were 22,762 FCRA-registered NGOs in the country. On Saturday, it came down to 16,829 as 5,933 NGOs stopped functioning. Organizations whose FCRA registration has expired include Medical Council of India (MCI), Emmanuel Hospital Association, which runs over a dozen hospitals across India, Tuberculosis Association of India, Vishwa Dharmayatan, Maharishi Ayurveda Pratishthan, National Federation of Fishermen Cooperatives Limited Incorporated.
Hamdard Education Society, Delhi School of Social Work Society, Bharatiya Sanskriti Parishad, DAV College Trust, and Management Society, Delhi Public School Society, India Islamic Cultural Centre, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Godrej Memorial Trust, Nuclear Science Center at JNU, India Habitat Centre, Delhi College of Engineering and All India Marwari Yuva Manch are also included in these institutions or organizations.
