Senior social worker Sindhutai Sapkal, mother of thousands of orphans, passed away

Pune: Known as the father of orphans and mother of thousands of children, social activist Sindhutai Sapkal has passed away in Pune. She was 75 years old. He was undergoing treatment at Galaxy Hospital in Pune for the past few days. Sindhutai had undergone hernia surgery a month back. Since then he is undergoing treatment. He died today of a heart attack.

According to the Mahanubhav sect, the last rites on Wednesday

The last rites of Sindhutai Sapkal’s body will be performed tomorrow morning at 8 am. After that, according to the Mahanubhav sect, his last rites will be performed at Thosar Page at 12 noon. Sindhutai was awarded the Padma award. Therefore, he will be cremated with state honors.

Life journey of Sindhutai Sapkali

Sindhutai Sapkal was born on 14 November 1947 in Wardha, Maharashtra. Navargaon in Wardha district is the birthplace of Sindhutai. He was married at the age of 9 to Srihari Sapkal, who was 26 years older than him. There was a big in-law in the house. There was no environment of education in the family. Suspecting her character, the husband threw her out of the house. The family members also turned their back on him. So Sindhutai used to walk begging at Parbhani-Nanded-Manmad railway stations. At one point he even attempted suicide. After begging for several days, she remained in the cemetery. Then he decided to take care of the orphans. For this, he also established Mamta Bal Sadan. The institute was started in Kumbharwalan village of Purandar taluka near Pune. Taking care of orphans and destitute children, he started giving them education, food, and clothes. There are 1 thousand 50 children left in this institution. She has established Bal Niketan in Pune, Savitribai Phule Girls Hostel in Chikhaldara, Abhimaan Bal Bhavan in Wardha, Gopika Garakshan Kendra, Mamta Bal Sadan in Saswad, and Saptasindhu Mahila Aadhar Bal Sangopan and Shikshan Sansthan in Pune.

“My motivation, my hunger for the stomach, is for the bread. I thank the bread because there was no bread. Ranoran went here and there to get bread for my children. People supported me. At that time to give The ones who filled my pockets at that time and my children who gave me the strength to live, deserve this award, Urlasurla is mine,” said Sindhutai Sapkal.
